Boston City Hall was built in 1968. This is one of the largest buildings in the city, built in the rough style of the 60's. In buildings built in this style, texture stressed concrete or stone, not hiding architectural design. Building height 42.1 meters.

9-storey city hall can be divided in height into 3 parts. In the lower part of the building is the city council hall, library and other facilities available to the general public. In the middle of the building, which are decorated interiors especially pompous, arranged facilities for meetings of the mayor and the city authorities, and on the upper floors there are the usual administrative offices.

The building is the residence of the mayor - Thomas Menino, who takes office for 20 years, since 1993. In March 2013 the 70-year-old mayor announced that he will no longer participate in the elections.

City Hall is on the list of 16 city sights along the hiking trails "Path of Freedom", marked by a red line along the sidewalks.
